Best way to sort fairing

Post by mattycoops43 »

Hi peeps.

You may have seen pics, I recently painted my seat fairing and tank, looking pretty good. I looked at my fairing, but both sides are pretty well damaged, they have been repaired in the past but they are not great with several major repairs.

The infill on one side doesn't sit right and sticks out because the repair is so thick.

Sold the Fazer so have some cash to put towards sorting storm, what is my best route? Collect panels and get them sprayed as a set? Do full fairings come up? They all seem to be damaged. or is there somewhere I can take my panels for a proper repair, but I am not keen as they are so crap to start with.

Does anyone have a reasonably tidy fairing for sale?

Also thinking I am going to powder coat my wheels, but wondering if anyone has a tidy set going for sale?

Just sounding the waters really.
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.

+1
it is my intention to eventually get a set of the chinese sets off ebay. plus you can get them in a lot of colors (white being the fastest obviously)

my bad who has a 95 900RR got a set of the chinese fairing of ebay for his bike and holy shoot i was impressed!!! they looked soooooo good!! really very nice finish. they seemed well made and the plastic seemed very durable. i expected cheap and flimsy. thats when i decided id get a set. especially since i can get them in white with all the proper storm badges.

the only downside is getting the gas tank and my sharkskinz lower to match. thats probably an impossible task but i can try to get close.

they run about $400 USD a set. seems like a pretty good deal when you look at the price of just half a front fairing from a place like sharkskinz....

Plastics can be repaired and made good - if you have the tools, materials and bit of the 'Blue Peter' presenter about you

Spray them grey primer, then everyone will think it's temporary.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
