¬just noticed the post re bad no plate making which is relevant to me because I’m after a new no plate, but what size ???
Gone are the days of the postage stamp size plate so what is the best compromise, or indeed what looks best small square ? rectangle?
I know anything other than DOT spec is potentially asking for a trouble but I’ve had a tiny plate on the front of my TVR for the best part of 10 yrs with no problem so what re a bike what is likely to escape the attentions of the law?
I’m fancying something like 11” x 3” while I know this isn’t "legally" correct I think it would look great between the exhausts, thoughts??

Re: no plate size
Plod don't like letter box type plates on bikes.. 9 X 7 Is the standard size, I put 8 x 6 on mine, not too small, doesn't attract the wrong attention and looks good. As long as it's not got honeycomb or shadowed background it Should also be ok for Mot unless you get a really anal tester.

8x6 is as small as I'll go and it still looks standard but a little smaller

MOTs aren't a problem
I just fancy a long plate make the gap between the rear wheel and rear end look bigger

Re: no plate size
you're right of course it is asking for trouble but sometimes it's nice to be a little rebellious and do something just because it looks good regardless of the consequences

Re: no plate size
I had a 7x 5 two years ago, plus the borderline which made the lettering and numbers really small, I never had any problems from the police, but I was forever worrying about it.
now I go for the 8x6 or my recent plate is a standard 9x7 but with a border 3d text and a small euro/gb sticker in the bottom left corner, I've also got the forums web address on the plate...

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: no plate size
I think it's the text size that they don't like small so you can go with a slightly smaller plate (not legally but acceptable) but keeping the font size the same, so loosing some of the space around the outside.
