these could work maybe?

Does anyone have any dunno results or have seen any using 2 short stacks? I don't want to be fooled thinking I gained top end just because I lost some mid and the top is the same.

Also what's the point of removing the hoses and tank in the air box? More post filter volume? and is the valve cover hoses and vent tank really nessecary? obviously not because you guys dont have it. what did you do instead?

it would be nice to shave a few ounces of weight so i could lean farther and go faster than ever before :biggrin

I dunno if anyone has dyno results :P for two short stacks but there are so many variables involved that somebody else's dyno print out wont be relevant to yourself. You would have to have identical bikes (clones) with the exact same mods, jetting, exhausts etc etc and be run on the same dyno back to back with same dyno tech on the same day. I hear what your saying about lost some mid and the top is the same, interesting way of looking at it.

There's only one true way to see if it's right for you and that's try it and see. I suggest starting with either two short or two long standard stacks and see what you think. Buy a set of standard stacks (cheap enough) and experiment. Don't forget this will upset the carb tune and will need adjusting to suit.

Here's a couple of threads regarding the airbox and breather.

i totally hear what your saying about dynos being completley different for different bikes.

i more so wanted to know what i said about possibly loosing mid range which gives the seat o pants dyno the feeling that youve gained top end. i know a few people that have been duped by this on various mods.

i do have an extra set of OEM stacks. just waiting until i have the knowledge to mess with jetting. thats still a little over my head but i really would like the top end gain of 2 shorts as long as it didnt sacrifice too much mid range. not to worried about bottom end.

thanks for the reads on the breather hoses

I recall someone doing a dyno run with two short and two long a while back. You can surely find it if you search. IIRC, the shorts gave no real advantage on top but had slight losses in the low and mids. The two long were practically identical at peak, but gave small but noticeable gains along the way.
