How to protect VTR from falls

Hi, i'm a french VTR owner, so i expect you'll anderstand me especially the technical words. I would like to set protections to protect the motor casings and if possible the careenage (plastic parts) in the event of fall. But i don't know where i can put them. Is it possible to put protections without have to make a hole in the front careenage part?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

There are what we term as "crash mushrooms" that are designed to protect the bike in case of a fall. there are a few items on the forum relating to these. try motrax.co.uk and see if they are what your looking for.

OK for the crash mushrooms. I already knew this solution and i even have a friend who can make me a couple of "topblock", but I would like to avoid making a hole in the plastic part of the careenage. On that way, In which place can i set them (if it's possible)?

The harris oned don't require you to dril the plastic. They have brackedts the mount onto the engine mounts and the mushrooms mount onto them just abouve the fairing.

BP team,
Check bike-design.be they make crash "mushrooms" for the VTR and you don't have to cut anything. Or if anybody wants them you can email the US distributor @ firemedic807@aol.com

The only thing wrong with the harris ones is that the cheecky b8stard
try and charge you Â£15+vat for each replacment nylon bung

I take it that if you fall and have to use them, they want Â£15 to replace damaged ones???? After embarassing myself with a 0 mph falling over manouevre(?) I'm thinking about getting some. Are the Haris ones any better than R&G's or is it just that you don't need to drill the fairing with the Harris ones?

I personally prefer the look of the R&G ones because they mount directly in line with the engine mount rather than using a bracket to offset the mushrooms just to save you cutting the fairing.

As al said its down to preference, i got my harris ones before
rg made them, but the rg ones do look quite good.

I thank you all for your replies. On this website I found a photo
for example in the gallery (pictures- bits and parts gallery) for those that could interest. as for me, I will try to make them by a friend without having to drill the fairing because that will cost me just a bottle of pastis and moreover, materials used are very well. I just have to find how and where exactly in order to keep my fairing undrilled and to make my VTR well protected (and wheels protected...!)

I tried that once, but couldn't get my arm far enough forward to protect front fairing lowers (GPZ600R), leg protected side & footrests well though, and only cost Â£15 for ambulance ride (own fault!!). So good value
