Help Please Did you buy your bike with a 19l tank?

Post by E.Marquez »

Good day.
I have a Honda Dealership Parts manager here in the states that is willing to source me a 19L tank, or at least look into it.

BUT, he needs a bike VIN, from a Honda FireStorm that came originally with the 19L tank.

If you are willing to share your bikes VIN with me, please PM.

Thanks

Erik

Yes you'll need the other gubbins that goes with the 19L tank plus later bars to clear the larger tank . Goodness knows what a new tank would cost on its own ($500-600)?

If increasing the range is your priority then carrying a small 5L gas can as a reserve would be more a pragmatic solution and better value, plus still give bragging rights - just imagine 21L total capacity!!

for the American market it should be an easyish swap as you guys already have the pairs system, but you will still need a different fuel spigot and fuel pipes as the bigger tank only has one fuel line outlet that then splits into two.
you will also need to bend your fuel level sender to fit the new tank.
unfortunately i'm abroad otherwise I would help you with the number, have you tried the lings microfiche on the internet?
its the same as the ron ayres microfiche but for English part numbers.

I just remembered lings runs a different set of parts numbers to Honda/// :Ball Kick:
JH2SC36C*3M3M600001-3M699999, try a number between 600001 and 699999.

It's nothing to do with the PAIR system. The 19l does have a spigot with a single fuel line that runs down to a separate vacuum diaphragm which mounts on the frame below the tank. The 19l tanks where all designed for the later model VTR with digital dash/fuel gauge, so consisted of fuel float rather than sender unit. I'm not sure about the clip on's. Later clip on's where raised 7 degrees for comfort, not heard anything about tank clearance.

There's some picture in the following thread that show the separate vacuum diaphragm and pipes clearly.

Sorry I can't help with the VIN as my VTR is old style.

About $380 USD my cost for a us tank if cost holds close from the US tank cost to a other source tank.

Yes more than a plastic jerry can bungled to the seat.. But then,,, how much is not looking like a wonker worth to you?

Lol

Range is not my priority... And most days my body and mind are ready for a rest before I'm out of fuel.

But there are times when I'm forced off route or otherwise unconvinced because my bike has to stop for fuel, when it would be better, more convenient, to go only another 30-50-80 miles

We all I'd our bikes to suit our personality .. This is a mod I'm interested in.

I am aware of the rest of the components needed to make the swap.. But thanks for mentioning it.

If the tank idea works.... We will be able to source the other parts as well.

The 19l tanks are just not something I will likely ever get if I wait for one to appear used for sale..... So this is an option on this side of the pond worth looking into

Item number 5 in that link is the tank...and it's not even listed in the part Lin numbers.

And no, those are not Honda part numbers.... Must be something that company does to keep you blokes from using there microfiche to look up and find / source/ search parts at other places .
