Just picked up some heated grips today so goign to fit them in the next few days. Just wondering about hooking them up - I was going to use a relay and tap power off the battery but the guy in the shop says to hook it directly up to the rear light supply. There is an inline fuse on the grip cabling.
Any advice?
Quick heated grips question
OK - so I have my heated grips just installed... I've wired it up to a relay instead of taking power off the loom... anyway, the light comes on, on the variable heat control - but they dont seem to be getting very hot.
Do heated grips take long to heat up and how 'hot' do they get? Sorry if this a dumb question...
Cheers!

Right then, this 'quick' heated grips question is getting a bit longer...
I've wired up the grips - tested them last night with the engine running and they warmed up... was concious that they would drain the battery... Anyway, after putting the faring on and fixing cables etc., the grips dont heat even after a spin... I've got a red light on my variable control so the power is getting that far.... that simply sends the power to each grip. Not a drop of heat in them now
I thought maybe I had flattened my battery but the bike started no probs today... tested with a multimeter - dont seem to be getting anything from the control.... Any ideas???

Cheers Ben!
I investigated this further last night - I opened the control unit and found that a peice of solder had come loose... the leg of some kind of 'transistor' was loose... so I pressed it down onto the board and switched the bike on for a minute - and hey presto.... heat!!! So I will re-solder it today and hopefully that will be it then.
