PR4s are same compound, but stiffer sidewall for heavier loading. I got them cos I am a lardy arsse!

Are those not the PR4 GT you heard about mate? On the PR4 they have changed the Grove / spies so they don't go all way down to the edge grip to give better feel at full lean in the dry and less movement on the rear

I think I read, the pr4's have a hard centre and medium shoulder on the rear, as opposed to the pr3 which uses medium in the centre & soft on the shoulders.
Just thought I'd let you know incase you hadn't condidered them. Urgh tell me about it! Fecking tyre reviews are now driving me crazy! Lol

most tyres now will out perform most "would be Rossi road freaks" i think, mind you my butt end is squirming about since Lloydie did that flywheel mod, you have to be a bit careful now on wet roads, and the rentals tend to sit you up and that makes the front lighter too, oh such fun !!! life is goodJamoi wrote:I think I read, the pr4's have a hard centre and medium shoulder on the rear, as opposed to the pr3 which uses medium in the centre & soft on the shoulders.

Got the PR3's on now and its down to the limit on the rear,Jamoi wrote:I think I read, the pr4's have a hard centre and medium shoulder on the rear, as opposed to the pr3 which uses medium in the centre & soft on the shoulders.

The 3's are a fantastic fantastic tires (so good i put that twice) absolutely unbelievable what they can cope with in the wet, but my problem with them on the gixxer is the feel from the rear when its lent over, there is so much movement on the rear its hard to tell how much more you can give it, you know you can go more but its that mental block saying its squirming its squirming, strange thing is tho on the blade they feel mint at lean angles
the new PR4 has a radically different tread pattern to the 3 and they have dropped the massive groves and spies that run all the way to the edge wall, might mean the tires wont heat up as quck because it wont be moving as much but is supposed to offer much better feel and grip in dry conditions lent over
With the now harder center they claim a 20% longer life than the PR3 also
At Ron Haslams they used Bridgestone BT 023's on the blade and 600's which again is a sports touring tire, the grip on those in the dry blew my mind granted it was on a race track and a nice hot day but still what they cope with, i didn't once get to where i felt the front was going to be overworked
For me its either going to be the PR4 next or the S20 Evo (like the BT 023 but you can get them in a 190 / 55)
tires i can get fitted for 15 quid from my mates shop and i get tires from this place

Bar far the cheapest place i have ever come across

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
I wouldn't worry about it, I was wrong, the PR4s ARE harder, and I got 8k miles from a rear that were mainly ton motorway riding, so the centre don't wear THAT fast!!!Jamoi wrote:Damn it Seb, wish I'd ordered the 4's now!

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
This is what I haven't liked about the PR3's, the centre has worn faster than the rest. This is not down to tyre pressures as I'm pretty good at keeping on top of them. I think it's more down to the flattish profile of the tyre and the tread pattern where it tapers off towards the centre. I do mostly town riding and not so much dual carriageways/motorways!so the centre don't wear THAT fast!!!
On my last MOT he said I will be needing a new tyre soon as it's getting low in the centre. The only bits I can see as getting low are the centre parts where it tapers off. These are not as deep to begin with so obviously get down to the legal limit faster. As for the rest of the tyre it's still well above the limit.
Other than this they are superb tyres, loads of grip, especially in the wet and confidence inspiring. The only other gripe I have with them is that they don't heat up very fast or much and once they do, they cool off pretty quickly. But this is England and we don't get much scorching hot sunshine and sticky tarmac

I wont be buying them again. It's been almost two years on them now (I think

I would think that the PR3's would be much better if doing a lot of touring on twisties with your knee down a lot. This would balance out the wear. I see the PR4's still have that flat profile.

Nice to get a few opinions, I've just got them... they do have a very flat profile don't they! I liked how the qualifiers tip in to corners, hopefully that won't have been sacrificed completely.
