Going Camping!

Post by althefish »

Yay, first proper trip on the 'Storm coming up!

I've packed my tent, thermarest, sleeping bag and cook-set and tomorrow I'll be heading up to Matlock for a little meet up and a spot of camping.

Can't wait :)

If they are all in that little kreiga tailback you are a very minimal camper!

This is what mine looks like when camping

Although there is cooking kit in there as well

Nice light weight kit there  How warm is the sleeping bag? That's the one bit of kit I could do to shrink.

I stopped taking my super small 1man tent as it's just more convenient and comfortable to to have extra storage and headroom and also the blow up bed.... And it's not like the bike struggles with the extra weight... Sign of old age when you like comfort camping.

The sleeping bag's a lightweight snugpack softee, strictly summer only but it does pack nice and small :)

It'll be my first time with the super small tent, jury's out on that one ...

That's the wood head reservoir on the roads between Glossop and Holmforth

Image

The bridge bit is the main road which goes through the middle... The road I am on takes you right up over holm moss and from the top of the pass you can see for miles.... Great ride on a nice day, but the roads are narrow in places and if it is raing it is a nightmare up there as there will be no visibility

... and here's the contents of my Kriega tailpack unpacked. Had a great weekend, it was my first longer distance trip on a bike for years and the 'Storm was fantastic!

any one who watched sundays stage of tour de france, this road is going up to Holme Moss, the cat2 climb that split the peloton. they were going the opposite way and hitting 60mph on the downhill towards where my bike is sitting
