uneven tickover

Post by motostorm »

howdy guys ,

just wondered if anyone had an idea what might be wrong with my bike ,

i have an uneven tickover , bike was previously fine now it sounds like it is hunting ,

its not valve clearances ,

i have stick coils fitted ,

bike performs fine , its just a very uneven tick over ?? ive had to raise the idle to stop it cutting out , mechanically im pretty good , but just find this a bit odd and wondered if any storm owners have had this problem ,

ill probably start with plugs , but there fresh enough tbh ,

and if it was the carb idle circuit id expect up to quarter throttle hesitation etc ,

as i said , just wondered if anyone here has come across the same problem

Carb balancing,
Maybe a poorly performing spark plug
Maybe air leak (include exhaust in this)

Check all your fuel and air hoses. All clamps etc, probably an air leak. Check the carb rubbers as a small split may cause that too.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Are you getting popping and banging from the exhaust on the overrun?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I'm thinking about a vacuum leak....

just to add no noticeable difference on the overrun :plainsmile

Not even a bit of popping and banging from the exhaust leak? Any intake or exhaust leaks, more so intake will cause an uneven idle. The next thing I would be looking at is the mixture. Do a blip test to to verify things.
