Alternator cover inspection hole screw

Post by Geoff S »

Being on the very cutting edge of excellence I didn't tighten up the inspection bolt/screw that covers the smaller of the two holes in the alternator cover properly last time I took it off.

I went out for a bit of a blast last night and it has now parted company with the bike

Anybody got one I can give them some beer tokens for? Haven't found them online but then again my description of the part isn't exactly accurate :D

Check your oil level too as you may have lost some in spray out of the inspection hole without it being capped off

You can do the small one up fine- it's the big one that you daren't tighten, and needs to be held in with silicon sealer.
My advice is to use an Allen key- use the smaller section to tighten it, and the longer section to undo. Hasn't failed me yet!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
