Just bought a storm... Do i have CCT woes?

Post by Richy85 »

Hey all!
Bought myself a tidy 02 storm the other day and I have to say, overall she's a peach :)
Only thing is though if its sitting on idle with clutch out there is a noticeable rattle/clatter. If I pull the clutch in the noise goes away... Is it CCT related or are these generally noisy when in neutral on tickover?

Thanks :cool2

Could be the noise of the clutch plates

Cheers lads. Just thought i'd make sure and put my mind to rest :)

I'm used to air cooled bikes so am used to a bit of clattering and such but just wanted to make sure it wasnt a sign my cct's were gonna let go.
I'll definitely get them done soon though ;)

Make those CCTs your next port of calls, unlike In-line 4's you don't get much if any warning before cam chain tensioner goes and pistons meets valves on the v twin storm.

Just curious, what sort of mileage is typical on original cct's before they go boom?

There isn't really a typical mileage, one of the guys on the superhawk (american) forum had his go after about 6000km. Some people have run over 20k on originals without a problem

19k.

Its basically mint except for a bit of cracking around the r/h side rear front fairing bolt hole.

Dont you like it ?
Have you deep pockets ?
Do you listen to honda dealers ?
If yes to them don't worry about the ccts they'll be fine .

If no get them changed to manuals or do the stopper mod , once done you will have worry free riding

It's not the best photo, but when I zoom in it looks like it has Bazza manual CCTs fitted.... Send a close up photo of the rear cylinder just above the footrest on the brake side.

Bike also has uprated front calipers, so I am thinking it might belong to someone who has already been reading this forum..

Scratch the first comment, it's the brake line going across the CCT body that makes it look like it has a long bolt head..... Callipers are still new though
