Vtr running flat
Hi I have just got a 98 Vtr problem it's running very flat tops out at 112mph I've had the timing checked carbs stripped put on new ecu and cdi checked manifold inlets for washers checked the wiring at the back of speedo for the extra pink and green to ecu for restriction now going to change coils it rides like an sv650 when I get it to the top end it feels like something is pulling it back

I was thinking the same thing, Chris...
Does it rev out ok, pulling seamlessly all the way to the red line, in all gears?
I know it won't pull fourth, fifth and sixth, from what you have described, but will it in the lower ones, or does it start off ok and run out of puff around 5000?

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: Vtr running flat
It's flat right through the rev range but ticks over fine when I get it to the top end it starts to pull back and chug and pop
Re: Vtr running flat
did you oil the BMC filter yourself?
Over oiling aftermarket filters will cause what you've described. Easy to check- remove the filter and run it up the road for a short distance.
Also check that the throttle position sensor plug is connected properly- it plugs in to the right hand side of the carbs.

Welcome in Frank you finally made it...
Pull up a chair & join in the fun, I hope you brought the biscuits...
Good call on the over oiled filter Tony, voice of experience is it...
BTW everyone Frank was posting on Practical Sportsbikes FB page with this problem & had quite a few good suggestions but not the over oiling one.
Someone did suggest changing the fuel pump...but I doubt that would of helped...
Keep us informed of any progress on this Frank, as I said on FB if you put your location up someone local may be able to cast an eye over it & help out a bit more as hands on will always be better than blind guesswork via a forum.
