New Tyres Time

Post by Firestormerz »

Not a question asking which tyres as there is plenty of that found using the search option, I have made my mind up and think I am going to go with the BT023 as it suits my style of riding, mileage requirements and price from what I have read. What I would like to hear is from people who have used these tyres for a considerable amount of time and what their opinion is in general. :)

Thanks folks

Same for me with the title...thought you meant boot boots

Used BT23's on my Fazer and loved them but have never used them on the Storm. I suspect they will wear quite fast on these bikes. I am sick of the prices of tyres and how fast they wear. I was going to go for Dunlops next but I'm coming around to the idea of buying cheapies like Maxxis now (low on funds!). One would soon get used to the feel and a little slip and slide is allright, adds to the fun  For want of a better word we get acclimatised/used/adapt to whatever we have!!! Look at Button in his go karting days driving on Slicks in the wet because his father couldn't afford wets. He is an excellent driver in the wet now. Unless your riding on the edge and/or in completive racing all the time then none of us really need the latest and greatest tyres.

Maxxis diamonds seem to be getting some good reviews across the board, seems like they are pretty much on par with road pilot 2's, looking at the prices there's not much difference between those 2 either.

Ate a BT023 front in 3500 miles on my Pan. Loads better than the Bt021 that was on before. I would say that it was ridden hard (for a touring bike) though and they are dang diggly heavy on the front anyway.

Conclusion - Good sticksion put poor wear rate on the Pan when ridden hard.

Ok I went with the BT021 as I got offered a cracking deal on them and quite like them as I have them fitted to the Kawasaki as well. Have to say I personally prefer how the storm rides with these on as opposed to the BT010 that was already on when I got the bike. Thought about the maxis diamonds but after riding my mates Tuono with them on I just didn't like the way they squirmed and moved when cranked over. Will let you know how the 021s wear and last.

I think I took my c90 to them over 20yrs ago, I was living in east ham at the time, if it's the same firm, they've been there for donkeys years....
might be doing a dyno run on Saturday, it's at poleposition on the highway, between the bp garage and the machinemart, £15 a run if your interested mate.
