Oh and I do have to point out that the police weren't out looking for us, there was a complaint about young kids at the other end making noise of the park, but they parked up next to where we were standing and we were having a chat with them.... We couldn't convince them to arrest us on the charge of "some youngsters making noise"

that last pass over to a74 and back over lead hills were definitely the highlight of the day

Re: OP Storm SW Scotland mk2 Aug 8th, 9th 10th 2014
yes the Dalveen Pass then over leadhills and Wanlockhead villages was the icing and the cherry on the cake...... if we had time we could have done them again in reverse..... and we overtook 3 or 4 cars on that 40miles of biking heaven roads.countrymick wrote:that last pass over to a74 and back over lead hills were definitely the highlight of the day

Yes what an awesome stretch of road. Near perfect surface, near perfect visibility, unbelievable views, feck all traffic

It really was almost as if someone built it just for bikers.
Shame the rain meant we didn't get to do the logging road, but hey ho, there's always next year!!

Re: OP Storm SW Scotland mk2 Aug 8th, 9th 10th 2014
you missed out the fact that it had near perfect bends and no side roads joining it as well.......... it takes some skill to have bends in the road and still keep visibility
like you said, it was a gift to bikers
