some unfinished roads there, so that could also be an option

it is scenic and the roads are a bit narrow, but will be fun in the dry and with flat bars

I'm looking forward to this one, should be a good one again.
Re: Op Storm II Part 5, Rhayader Sept 13th 2014
there will be plenty of us with sat navs on the ride, so if you wanted go skip back to base early, I can imagine that someone would be happy to take the lead.budd wrote:what's the total mileage? and if the weather isn't good (although I'm sure it will beAMCQ46 wrote:http://goo.gl/maps/r4aZA

Re: Op Storm II Part 5, Rhayader Sept 13th 2014
Budd, max mileage is about 270 and that is the milage we did on the Scottish trip [thanks to good weather], and the route can be shortened easily at each loop. It can quickly be configured to 4 different lengths by shortcutting across west to east at set points and that will allow us to change the plans depending on weather, group pace, running out of time.budd wrote:what's the total mileage? and if the weather isn't good (although I'm sure it will beAMCQ46 wrote:http://goo.gl/maps/r4aZA

I would still suggest we run 2 groups, one relaxed and one progressive. the relaxed one should decide if it only wants to plan one or 2 of the sections then home.

on the relaxed group Flatty takes us to all the coffe and scone shops, so I can guarantee there will be loads of stops ;)
Re: Op Storm II Part 5, Rhayader Sept 13th 2014
worth pointing out that the progressive group is not really about speed [you are all more than capable riders who can make good progress when required] , its more about having a good long ride.
So where the relaxed guys are stopping in nice tea shops and looking at the beautiful scenery, the progressive team are racking up the miles and eating when they stop at petrol stations.
based on that definition you can decide which group you want to be in.
regarding Budds questions about shortcuts, I just checked and there are the following options
1) 120 miles http://goo.gl/maps/x33RL
2) 220 miles http://goo.gl/maps/tkicA
3) 270miles http://goo.gl/maps/Baxo2
I can also cut 20 miles off option 2 and 3 if I just come straight down the A470 to Dolgellau
