advice on storage required.

Post by bluestorm »

your help please.

i am moving house soon to a property with no garage. aargh. i know the insurance man will not be happy so i am going to be buying an insurance approved storage system (the metal box type variety you see at the bike shows).

does anyone know how this will effect my quote compared to a brick built garage? also, does anyone know of any decent suppliers in the south east of england?

where are you going to put it mate?
back garden is ok as far as i know, but if it can be seen from the front of your property you have to make it asthetically pleasing to see (basically invisible)
check with you local planning officer first before you go and spend £1500 and then find out your nieghbours are going to whinge at ya.
4 cyl = 2ltr , 2 cyl = 1ltr it's all relative.

Check with the insurance first. At my last house I would have saved a whole £10 for having the bike garaged. Mind you, i dont live in the south east.

Then again, whats the price of peice of mind of having the bike locked up and out of sight of theiving skum :x

it might pay you to do a bit of phoning round to see how much difference to the insurance premiums some form of storage would actually make. My storm has to sleep on the patio under a cover as I have no room for one of them fancy metal sheds. When I took out the policy the first question was "would it be garaged?", but when I responded it would be kept secure at the rear of my property no-one gave me the impression this made much of a difference.

course the other consideration is keeping the bike looking good -- but I ride pretty much daily, and make sure I give it a good clean every weekend. It ain't showroom, but not bad for age & mileage -- generally solid Honda build quality.
