any tips on how to take the hose off vacuum hose of the rear cylinder take off point and fit the gauge hose from the carb balancer on. i had a quick go today but cant even get my fingers to it. any help appreciated
i can see this making my saturday a lot of fun think i might just completely take the tank off till i get it all set up as it was driving me nuts trying to keep it outta the way.
do you think itll be ok to balance the carbs with the airfilter box off as i can see it being a lot easier then
Ben is right, you need small hands It took me ages to do the job because my hands are quite big, only to find out they were not out of balance
Not meaning to sound like I'm trying to put you off Good luck with it,
Why take the pipe off the rear one!!!!
You lot are trying to make the job hard.
Leave the hose atached to the cylinder and take it off at the other end (Tank end) attach that end to your vacuum gauge and find a bit of pipe to tempararily go onto the fuel tap, by gentally sucking on the temp pipe you can get the fuel flowing.
Alernatively get a T piece and join it into the rear vacuum hose so you can just cannect onto it when you want to do your carbs.(Don't forget to blank off the spare outlet on the T piece when not in use.
Easy
thats a great idea pete. i got some spare t pieces with the balancer so ill just cut the hose in half then put the t piece in the middle. any idea what i can block the t piece up with though??
I didn't bother with the T Piece so I can't recommend anything specific. How about using a rubber out the end of a pencil. You could shave it down to fit nice and snug so no leaks and it shouldn't cost anything.
XXX; The later hornets have a blanking plug which will fit in place for just this job. Makes balancing the carbs a 10 minute job rather than the 1 hour job it is now. Using long nose pliers, the ones with the slight kink in are best, also saves the fingers.
Not unless it's an Import
Look on top of the front cylinder. If its got a rectangle which looks like it should have something screwed onto it it probably doesn't. If you have a extra plate with piping coming off then you do.

sorted now i hope was hard to get the carbtuneto stop fluctuating so much but i think i cracked it in the end. im really not looking forward to ptutting that blanking bolt back in though
