Today I started on a few "winter" jobs on the 'Storm. New rear wheel bearings fitted, new front discs (had a slight warp for ages and got fed up) and finally replace fork oil and oil seals. First two jobs done no problems, but The Haynes Manual says you have to dismantle the forks before doing this, but surely there is a simpler way? The reason I ask is because the damper rod allen bolt won't budge and if I don't really have to remove it I shan't bother trying!
while were on the subject do you think it will be better for me to change the springs and fork oil myself or to get revolution racing to do it. i dont mind doing the work myself tbh just wondering if theres any advantages to getting it proffesioanlly done
Roger is a lovely bloke and will quite happily impart his bounteous knowledge over the phone
Cheap option -fit 0.85kg/mm springs and oil to suit as per his recommendations £80 ish
More expensive option - post them to Roger. He will fit the same springs, cut down the spacer to keep the free length the same and work his magic on the compression and rebound valves £200ish
cheers for the info ben. after finding out today that ive gotta fork out for 2 new discs im a bit on the skint side. the plan was to get my fronts rebuilt by revolution before the spring but i also need some new rubber.
does roger sell all the bits i need if i fancy doing it myself???
