Little brother

Post by bluesman »

Been browsing photos on my PC and found old photos related to my second bike (it was VT250)...and then found these - this is Storm little brother, VTR250 - but kinda styled or converted into that (I think). Not sure, just can't rememeber.

Now, scale it up to VTR1000....cool, eh? (not sure about one on left side, but look at right one)

The pictures in the first post represents (a souped up version of) the Honda VTR (250); the following page is in Japanese but pictures should still be visible:

http://www.honda.co.jp/motor-lineup/vtr ... index.html

The engine is very similar to the VT250's but the frame is different -- somehow recalling a Ducati Monster.

I owned the VTR 250 for four years, it is an incredibly cost effective bike: 26 km/l, price new is one of the cheapest 250cc in Japan, 32HP, 150 km/h top speed (enough to have the police take away your license on the spot if they catch you on the motorway), no MOT.

I sold it at 45000 km wihout ever having to fix it once (aside from tires, brake pads, oil etc.).

Wow, brother in arms! :)

I had original VT250 with later 43 bhp engine that I occasionally bought off creashed bike. Original engine still was OK, just wanted more ooomph - it was my first Jap.

I did about 20 000 km on it (after that engine already had 37000) without singe hiccup, and really loved that bike. I actually wanted VTR250 (very handsome bike) to put that engine in, but did not found it back then
I custom painted it myself (wasted shedloads of paint and varnish because wanted mirror finish)

Here is photos of my VT back then

See over the years in how many ways Honda has made bikes out of that 250cc engine...
