Basically junk the standard suspension, get the forks revalved and new springs and get a decent shock on the back.
Makes the world of difference.
Then drop the forks through the yokes by 5mm
Get Rennsports (best I've found)
Dynojet it
K&N it
Then spend silly money getting the engine sorted, but really get the suspension sorted and you will go alot quicker.
Oh and before I forget, take all the advice you can get from Robin.
Have Fun

Re: Racing a Firestorm
I don't race but I have a track only Firestorm with stock engine, Micron race cans, K&M air filter, Ohlins rear suspension, Fireblade forks with Ohlins internals, rear sets, braided brake lines, EBC Prolite discs.stormin normin wrote:Can anyone give me any information on racing a firestorm, I will be an intermdiate novice.

This bike handles really well.
I have done at least 40 track days on it. I don't get passed by much these days (and only by better riders, not faster bikes).
Its been a great reliable bike for trackdays, and its always a pleasure passing the GSX,CBR,ZXR,Mille,916/996 brigade, especially around the outside on a bend.
I'm off to Folembray (France) later today, to do a trackday tomorrow. Open pit lane so lots of track time (no 20 min. sessions, one long session all day).
Here she is

and before the respray in black....

Hi BenStormin Ben wrote:That looks mint mate
BTW, is that a Moriwaki front fairing? Those air intake holes on the bottom pic look massive (like the Mori ones to go with the ram-air box)
I'm back from the french trip. Folembray is an excellent circuit and will go there again. Pity the poor sod who crashed on an antifreeze/water slick dropped by a Ducati 916. His almost new ZX10R was totalled after bursting into flames.
My Firestorm:
I don't know who made the fairing, as I bought the bike with it on. The air intakes are not ducted to the carbs.
I will be putting this bike up for sale shortly as I fancy a change after the 4 years I have track dayed it.
