Fuel light started flashing on the way to work yesterday, stopped by the petrol station today to fill up on the way home..

Put a whole 17 litres in, jealous anyone? that means I used about 17 litres for 60-ish miles of commuting though

That's not good at all !!!

Today I finished up lining up the 6" wide blade wheel and took measurements for the two spacers it needs .
Just need to refit the tyre and check tyre to swing arm clearance and if Alls good get the money together to have both the 07 blade wheels straightened .

Just remember to add on a couple of mm more rubber for when you get different tyres for it

Sweet f all apart from riding it in the cold. Rear end slipped out nicely on some frost or something on a roundabout. Good tread on the cold rear tyre saved me there me thinks. Layed of the throttle and gently re-applied it out of the slide.

Day off so decided I'd get up at the crack o' dawn and get my VTR all put back together as I'm fed up of seeing it in bits and I need the garage space!

Greased rear shock linkages, swingarm bolt, flushed coolant, oil, brake fluids and clutch and refilled and also refreshed the fork oils for a slightly heavier weight oil.

All back together now and went to fire her up to see if all is well after I've been Richard around with the CCT's only to find the bloody battery is dead

Ill give it a boost off me truck battery in a bit once I've filled myself up with bacon


Also is it just me or is the airbox base on these bikes a complete faff or what?

Yep it's a pain in the butt, especially when carb tuning and the box is coming on and off often.. Quick release screws would be nice and/or even a threaded bar that went through the centre and had a screw down thingy to hold the box down in place. It don't help having the stacks to deal with either.

Yeah this bike is so clean - everythings like new so didn't have much trouble getting bolts out for greasing and plus with it stripped down as I did the CCT's the other day it made things a lot easier.


Now she's ready for some decent weather to arrive again

Can I get to the rear valve cover (I'm pretty sure it was that one I wombles up) without taking airbox/carbs off?

First check the petcock vacuum hose.

Yes you can get to the rear cover. But to be honest if you suspect a timing problem it's best to start from scratch and double check everything. Are you sure, when moving from RT on the rear to FT on the front that you turned the crank the full 1 1/4 turns. You should see the FT pass the little window once, and then the second time it comes around is 1 1/4 turns (450 degrees). Did you check the front cam lobes pointed up and out, rather than up and in like the rear.

Aye.
It's just when I did the rear cct i accidentally caught the chain and it flicked up and I thought at the time it skipped but when I gave it a glance it looked ok but tbh I'm a lazy b8stard and I didn't get in there and actually give it a proper look to make sure 100%

the front one I was extra careful after having flicked the chain up on the rear so that hasn't moved I'm sure of it.
