Never had a problem reading the later speedo...specsavers springs to mind

my issue with the late model clocks, is that the numbers are to small, add to that the vibrations and bumpy roads, and a quick glance at the speedo will only give you a rough idea of what speed your travelling at, not great for speed camera's.....
that's why I added some bright tape to my speedo, highlighting certain speeds, now it's much easier to see what speed i'm travelling at....

and the subject of fitting late model clocks to an early model bike, isn't there an issue with the digital temperature read out as well?
and when fitting aftermarket digital clocks, they can usually be switched between a rev limit of 10k and 20k depending on whether you have a v-twin or il4.

I must admit I prefer the layout of the earlier speedo too. Me being old skool probably doesn't help mind and the fact that the later model speedo readings are spaced closer together. The reason being the later model speedo uses less of the dail face to fit the numbers on due to it's design,

I also find it strange where the speedo starts from on the later model, even stranger having 50/60mph reading right at the bottom, but no doubt in time I would get used to that,

Yep, like any bike, once you calibrate your eyes/mind to the position of the speedo - no problem.

The fuel gauge is just depressing though!

The built in gear indicator looks really good

No comparison though between the two for ease of reading IMHO,

for some reason Honda felt the need to have the km's go up in 20's instead of 40's like on the early models, not sure if that would have made much od a difference tho, tbh i'm much happier since I fitted those 3 yellow markers, when you think about it, it's crazy for speedo's to read up to 200mph, even on vehicles that can reach those speed's, is it so when your stopped by the police, you have an idea of just how much trouble your in.....
this of course does not apply to the autobahns in Germany....
