I read that thread before, that's why I wanted to do this job, however mine didn't get nowhere near that good (quite bad pitting in places)
that's why I decided to paint. Pictures will follow, the paint looks ok,just gotta get some heat resistant laquer tommorow

Might be worth investigating further to see what temperatures the following is resistant too. I would say you have about 1200 degrees at the exhaust ports running down to 800 along the pipe.

It's not easy finding a heat resistant lacquer to them temps.

There's also the following that could be sprayed inside the pipe to help reduce temps.

So I decided to go with satin black (or should that be matt black !!)

I was working afternoons last week which means thing can be quiet so a couple of hours a day over 3 days,of scrubbing, grinding, polishing, my hands
were well sore, I still didn't get to the standard of polished finish of the other threads I seen on here recently so I went satin black !

I ran the engine to bake the paint on ( 3 separate occasions), and all looks well so far

Oh by the way , didn't get lacquered, might just get that stuff that you found carl and spray it with the exhaust on the bike !!!
