ohlins steering damper help

Post by monkeymatt »

I recently purchased an ohlins top mount steering damper but have stumbled across quite important issue .
I cannot for the life of me find a fitting kit anywhere
Does any one know of where 1 can be purchased or know anyone that is handy in the metal work department and make 1 .
Many thanks
Matt

I don't think there was one ever made for top mounting on the storm, so I don't think you will find one. The storm steering damper is designed to mount down by the right rad and attached to the fork leg. See the anniversary models which have a Harris one fitted as standard!!

You may find one that can be adapted for top mounting though. But your best bet is one custom made. Your also going to have issues whenever you want to lift/remove the tank as the damper will need disconnecting/removing out the way.

I have the side mount damper but not fitted it .
Top mount looked "normal " as had a few fitted on previous bikes .
Custom made fitting kit look the way to go .I've realised everything I want needs to be custom made .
Once the tank is back on I doubt I'll ever want to remove it very often

certain firms did make a top mount damper for the storm, i'll try and find out which companies did, the problem being that the storms an old bike, and most firms don't make the specialist parts anymore.... :(
worst ways a good engineering firm will sort you out.
