NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE!

Post by Watty »

Anyone done this? Any tips etc? A few of us are planning to do this around June time in memory of my mate Neil who sadly died a few weeks ago :( We are hopefully going to raise some money for the trust his wife is trying to set up in his name! A mental health trust aimed at people with depression etc. https://www.national3peaks.com

Did it in the Army some time ago, punishing on the body but rewarding.
Daughter did it last year , I think she said
Snowden first in the dark
Scar fell later that day
Ben Nevis up and down by midnight same day

Practice Practice Practice

good luck mate

Not done the national but did the Yorkshire 3 peaks a couple of years ago hardest thing I've ever done biggest tip I can give u mate is as said above practice
I never did any and it was agony for 2 weeks after the challenge I've never felt pain like it but its worth it I'd do it again and the sense of achievement at the end is unreal
good luck with it mate if I can get my ankles in shape ill be up for doing it too

make sure your transport is the biggest you can get. nothing worse than being cramped up between your hikes. definitely have a driver, spoken to people who have done it without one and thats their biggest regret.
Make sure you have at least 1 pair of spare broken in boots and plenty of spare clothing.
book into a hotel near your last hike. you want a good night's sleep after it.

Enjoy it.
best of luck.
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

Training
we rented a cottage out the back of Snowden in Beddgelert for the weekend the missus walked the dog, me and daughter set off at midnight on friday up the summit and back, (theres a path from the train station) took about 5 hours I think, couple of hours rest replen as much as possible and repeat 3 times, on the day she romped it.
