Calling New Zealand folk!
Re: Calling New Zealand folk!
Hi, try and get to the South Island as well. I live in Queenstown and there is some of the best riding in NZ down here in Central Otago, West Coast, Southland you won't regret it...

No answers on any of your questions, just want to wish you good luck and a wonderful time! Sounds like a dream!

I found you on FB and have sent a friend request.
As for bikes you could get an old nail like this which would see you right and have a ton of room. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =827953576
Or get an old Storm, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbi ... 423963.htm
What parts are you going to be selling?

Some roads out Hamilton way. Weather is a bit rough here at the moment.

My sister was in NZ for a year back in 2000 - I managed to get out for a whirlwind tour while she was still there. Absolutely loved it. Brilliant place, amazing scenery, fantastic people! The beer wasn't too bad either!
You'll have plenty of time to see (almost) everything. Definitely get over to the south island, Queenstown is a must-see (bungee jump/jet boats etc) - come back up the west coast via one of the glaciers. I'm aiming to get back at some point...

Hey. I was in NZ during May 2014. It's awesome. I drove from Auckland to Invercargill. Had the Mrs with me or I would have hired a bike. It's an awesome country with some of the most beautiful scenery.
Rotorua is an amazing place to visit with some really cool roads. There's also Hot Sand beach which is really cool. It's a great road there also.
But the South Island is where I loved most. It's a lot like Scotland. The people were so friendly in the South and the roads were even better. Picton to Christchurch is a great road then along the west coast of the South Island is awesome. Queenstown is a great wee place to, reminded me of Banff in Canada.
On a non bike related matter. If you get a chance go to Stewart Island and go cage diving with great white sharks. The company is called Shark Dive NZ. Its an amazing experience, defo one for the bucket list.
Anyhow. Good luck with finding a bike. I wish you all the best and would love to hear about your adventure.
Keep us updated!

Is there a resemblance

What a wonderful thing to do and experience. Check it out, have a little taster and decide whether it's for you or not mate. If you can get work, I have a feeling it's a no-brainer. But who's going to take care of your mum.

Massive thanks for sharing all your experiences, I am starting to wonder why I've been putting it off for so long (probably girlfriends and motorbikes

I applied for my Visa last night and have ordered a Wwoofing guide (working for food and accommodation on farms), so I'm making progress... really hope my visa is accepted!
It's a bit daunting, now I'm thinking about things to sort before I go, like a temp bank account and a CV for interviews etc.
It seemed much easier with the Africa cycling trip as there were 3 of us to make sure we were ready to go, I've not been travelling on my own before outside of the UK, but I am VERY excited.

we have employed lots of workawayers, woofas, work 6hrs a day and get free food and lodgings, we've met some fantastic people over the last 4yrs. if you love it and stay for 12mths, i'd get a cheap bike, even if it means selling the red bike. it'll be strange you not being at all the vtr meets this year, but you won't regret it, good luck dude and keep us all informed of your progress........

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
