Head shaker
Took my hands off the bars today to do up my gloves and got a head shaker. was doing about 50 mph and the bars shook pretty quickly. Not seen it like that on any of the other storms i have had.. This one is pretty stiff front and rear and the tyre pressure are low (track pressure still oops).
Didn't like it much, what is the best way to stop it

Re: Head shaker
cheers i will start by inflating the tyres about 30 psi at he moment). i am pretty sure it didnt do it when i first built the bike
Re: Head shaker
My old mans Fazer does this, and mine started doing it as well. After looking in to it, we found it was becasue the fazer has an after market DB screen, and mine started happening after I fitted an MRA touring flip up screen( http://www.bikehps.com/mra/variotouringscreens.html ).
So the conclusion was that the after market pieces are either not fitted exactly square or not symentrical, causing instability.

Re: Head shaker
My Varadero shakes it head too.
Makes no difference if I adjust the pressures or change from the standard wheels & tyres (Metzler tourances) to CBR 600fy rear & Blackbird front with Pirelli Supercorsas
Take Watty's advice & keep holding on the bars

Re: Head shaker
I bought a steering dampener, but not yet tried it on the open road to see if it helps the head shake
Re: Head shaker
Had the same problem on 2 previous bikes , both times a new front tyre cured the problem, first check simple stuff like tyre pressure, wheel/ head race bearings, and that front brakes are not binding.
Re: Head shaker
Also if rear shock is spaced up that could be a factor...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: Head shaker
sorted
rear tyre was about 27 and front 29. Reset to default 36/42 on Maxxis
no change to suspension

Re: Head shaker
I have had it happen many times on the track bike and my road bike i just put it down to the character of the bike
