I thought I better put a link in here for those of you who don't always look in the Sales section.

Anyone who missed out first time around on Fuel Thumb Mixture Screws, I see Jack Flash is testing the water so-to-speak to see if there is enough interest for another batch to be made.

I've got to say....as much as I love the idea of adjustable thumb screws and very good quality and workmanship they are what Jack Flash has produced there. I'm not knocking Jacks thumb screws as they have their uses for those on a lessor budget, but unfortunately, do be aware that unless you have very small nimble fingered asbestos hands and a bit of patience, to make full use of them. You will need to change/relocate the coolant bottle to gain full access.

HRC coolant bottles are available and could be used as a replacement. I guess the limited access is one of the reasons there have never been any made specifically for the VTR and there are loads made for the likes of Harleys etc.

A thumb screw attached to a worm drive cable adjuster is what is needed in an ideal world. Or IMO if you want to fine tune the pilot circuit then a flow commander attached to the pilot circuit is the best option currently available to order.

Like carl says, you need to be nimble fingered, but I found that some clever manipulation of the carb coolant pipes using cable ties to get them out of the way gives me enough room to get in and adjust both screws. Also never had a problem with it being too hot.

in the last month I have had to run 3 different sets of exhausts and having the thumb screws made it a piece of cake to adjust the low end fuelling to suit.

I have never had a problem adjusting them. Great item.

I have removed the bottle and can do jet changes in 10 mins.

Exactly Now imagine one from each carb mounted to an L bracket on the frame with a couple of knurled knobs on the end, a bit like the idle adjuster.

It would have to be an inner cable inside and outer sheath so it could be clamped/held in place at the bracket end. A bit like the choke cable. This would then allow the inner cable to spin inside. Then there's the mixture screw end. It would be no good just attaching the cable to the end as it. I think it would require some kind of worm drive or universal joint kinda thing to allow ease of use and to take the strain of a twisting force on the inner cable turning the screw. It would have to spin freely. Otherwise if it was only a twisting force directly to the inner cable that then transferred force to turn the screw this would eventually weaken and snap the inner cable so I would have thought that would be no good. Only an idea/thoughts.

I think theres a fair bit more room if you disconnect (bypass)) the carb coolant pipes (the hoses are joined together with a piece of tube and tucked up out the way), I would love a set of these but how do I get them? apart from joining the superhawk forum

Got mine Monday and fitted today, superb, cant wait to get fiddling !
Took just over a week from Canada
As you can see, loads of room (the coolant tank was removed) and if your careful you wont get burnt !
