What Paint have you used.

Post by popkat »

For painting the fork lowers, subframe and other silver bits and bobs ?

want something that doesn't need a laquer top coat really, just looking to clean up, rub down a bit and pop a coat or two on.

Fork lowers in gloss black...

Attacked with a wire brush attachment on a leccy drill, one done, one before.

Two coats of Plasticote later...

Held up quite well.

I used to get it in B&Q but I don't think they stock it now...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

I used alloy wheel paint
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/E-Tech-Techni ... 1c4ba4ccae
but it did require a clear lacquer to make it harder wearing.

Everyone is different. I used a nice smelly two pack epoxy resin for durability.

I ended up using the following.

I'm going to try the paint from Lidl when I get around to it, no need to lacquer as it's a coloured lacquer already

More here on my testing of the product:-

It was on sale yesterday ( Monday 2nd February 2015 ) in Lidl's, they had black, white, blue, red and green on offer. No silver though if that was what you were after. Silver colour will be later in the year IIRC.

As I said above, they do have silver, it's just for some reason or other it's at a different time of the year, if previous years are anything to go by.

You could always get BTT to do yours for you, as his wife has a nice airing cupboard to cure the paint apparently  :)

Not at £42 of paint 8O If I prep the parts I can get my fork lowers, subframe and wheels painted and laquered at a local paint shop for £100 which is a bargain price really, I'm just so bloody skint at the moment so looking for cheap rattle can on the bits that need it the most which are fork lowers, a couple of bits of the subframe and some black F2 bars to silver.
