Hi! - New owner coming from an RVF400
Hi all,
I am hopefully swapping my 1994 RVF400 for a 1998 Firestorm and am intersted in you opinions of what to look for when viewing the Storm, and anybody else who has experience of both of the above bikes for comparisions.....i know the power and torque is far greater on the storm but interested in what to expect in the handling etc ??
My main reason for the upgrade is i would like a little more power & better comfort but want to stay with a Honda 'V'....although i have ridden and loved the VFR750 Proarm they are a little bulky and im quite short at 5ft 3 and the storm feels that bit smaller/narrower so i think more suited for me....also its becoming hard to find a nice lowish mileage VFR in my budget.
Cheers

Well its nice to see im not the only nutter who went from a 400 to a storm!
.I have had both a vfr400 and a cbr400 nether of which were standard and nether were as fast, powerful or as sure footed on the road
.Dont get me wrong the 4s are great on the twistys and i was sold on them untill i took a storm out, they seem to just egg you on for more!.As for fast tinboxers(cars
) I could blow them into the weeds on my 400
,so now you might have an idear on how quick storms are, oh just one thing they rev alot lower that takes some getting use to!
.
have fun stormy
P.S. if you want race paint check my HRC out in the gallery!

Well the swaps done...im now the proud owner of the flying banana..1998 Firestorm with 17k miles ...1 owner full history bar the 16k service (which im going to get it in for asap) as well as a new set of 207's
...straight swap for my 94 RVf400 with 24k kms on ...not a bad deal me thinks
Owned it 2 days and ive already managed to pick up a mint set of 2nd hand Micron carbon rounds
...hmm should make things a little more noisy
Any one got an idea how much for the 16k service which includes valves etc ??
Cheers

Welcome brother!
Depends where you go for the 16k;
I had mine done at Chiswick Squonda and paid the best part of £500!
Depends what your plans are for the bike I guess. Im keeping mine until it turns into dust (or until I change my mind!) so Honda stamps in the service book arnt important anymore - so I get my local VTR guru to sort it out (DelMeekc). I know he will do a top job (yes better then Honda) and wont rip me off.
Might be worth looking for a local specialist.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum matey. Get yourself a haynes manual, youll find that most of the stuff in the major service is fairly simple, the only thing i wouldnt attempt is the valve clearences. Mainly because its a pain in the butt. Hope you enjoy your bike and give us a shout if you need any help with anything.
Again welcome!
Again welcome!
Cheers for the welcome guys...bike came with a haynes thankfully and only want to get it dealer serviced for the valves really......i did the RVF shims and that was bad....very bad...cant be bothered with doing the VTR even though its gona be a lot easier than the NC
I thought i was getting to grips with the Yellow beast and then i fitted the Microns....oooo....quite some difference.... and not just the awesome noise!....pulls a hell of a lot harder now...nice
Now i just need a seat hump to get it looking like i want for now...although i would like a good bellypan to complete the look....there seems to be a lot of what i consider nasty looking b/pans about...its gota look like it was put there by mr honda or its not worth having in my opinion....any recomendations ???
Cheers

That isn't a belly pan. That's a full Mario replacement carbon/kevlar fairing! Just ask Wayne how much one of those costs!
The Pyramid ones go for £199 colour matched. Easy to fit but you'll need either a paddock stand or a friend to hold the bike as there is a hole that the side stand needs to go through.
