Close call!

Post by JonnyOh »

I was riding along the M62 toward Bradford from Hull.. thought I would see how the new V2 bike handles long wheelies. Not much traffic so I slowed down to launch speed (I always like to lift off at about 10 - 15 mph) Hate to clutch up in second. Me being a idiot still wheelies like on a 4 cylinder lots of revs.... the front end just skims the deck.. hmmm. try again.. the front came up a bit more.. snikked 2nd gear.. that lands the revs right back in the torque... BOOOM! the front flies up... :? Sudden brown undies?.. you better beleive it! ... after grabbing the rear brake the front slams down and oooof  2 lovely dents in the tank where the pod's touched down. ...ouch!
Anyways got it down to a T now.. 'tis great how it comes up at such low speed off the throttle...
Anyone have trouble steering on the back wheel?

.........Make way for squid boy
"....ohh **** hows the bike look?"
"..it's alright mate... T cut will sort it...but we cant find yer leg..."

well sheeee-it.

I can only rip a wheelie at 30mph in first. I can never shift the bitch into 2nd because I scare the shi@%# out myself. You'd think I'd be used to it by now...

Damn clutch grabs like hell with some revs in there. Very painful. Thus, I must use the full-clutch-all-throttle-yoink method for pullin phatties.
Can't help ya with the rear wheel steering thing.

Reply to jonnyoh : i'm not sure to have understood your question but i'll try to anderstand. i've got a steering damper which may have saved my life sometimes. if you've got steering troubles when you put down the front wheel, it's due to your front wheel which is not in the right straigt (may be the front wheel is a little turned left or right). becareful with it, cause it's dangerous in high speed.

reply to Swifty : making a wheeling in first, is, as for me, a little dangerous coz you don't have speed to keep you in a straigt and the motor is too brutal so you can quickly spinning yourself.
I never look at my mph clock to make a wheelie but always my RpM clock. to make a wheelie in first without too much risk of spinning, turn really on the gas at 5000 Rpm and and the first wheel 'll came up. then you can try to pass the second.
The best result solution to make long wheelies is to clutch up in second. accelerate gentle to 4000 rpm and clutch up between 4-5000 Rpm with the gas more open. and after, just get a bit more of gas to find the good high for the front wheel.
then you can make a smile to the blond girl looking at you in the car at your side !!! :P :P

Amen to that!!! Sometimes the bounce technique works too in first... Rolling up to about 4k then release and nail the throttle = instant liftoff!!

I'll give the 2nd gear thing a try. Then I'll smile to the blonde girl, show her my ass, and spank the fuel tank!! :D :D :D :D :D Thanks much........

wheeling

Post by BP team »

well i'm happy to see that my explainations were in an "anderstandable" english.
if you use rebond in first to make wheelies, you'll spinning yourself in a quick time. it's already very brutal in first without bounce!
Now i'm ok with the master of clutch up in 2nd but i want to do the same without clutching up. I succeed 2-3 times but don't know exactly the methode i used! when i 'll do that well, i'll informe you (if i remember).
if anyone have the good Rpm or methode to do it! tell me
A+ (= see you soon in french!)
Oliv' :P :D :D
