Carbon engine covers

Hi guys. Just about to fit my preciouses (gollum speak). Covers and frame rails. What silicon product are folk using to keep them securely attached? Thanks.

i use wurth silicone, but any will do, I recommend a high temp one for the engine covers.

Don't apply too much though in case you ever need to remove them. A few strategically placed spots is enough. Make sure you have some timber or something at hand to hold them in place nice and tight while they are drying.

I would recommend a continuous bead round the outer edge to prevent water and oil ingress.
It's hard to prevent dribbles of oil getting in round the oil filler as you top up or oil change.

You also need some dab'n'dots elsewhere as suggested.

Why would you wnat to take them off, though?

Lastly, don't put them on a good clutch cover, you might as well put them on a scraped one...and sell the good one to get all of your money back

In AP's case to make a hole in the centre so the crank could be turned over. I was thinking more the frame covers. If one want to sell them on.

I used a clamp and cable ties to hold the frame protector in place whilst the silicone set.
