Well there's a first.....

Post by Shauned71 »

Came across this on the bay a week or so ago....

Believe that this is the first time in 25+ years that I have ever seen a bike again after I have sold it besides 2 bikes which I sold to local mates. Was quite surprised when I spotted it, especially considering it don't look too much like when I sold it. It was the polished top half of the frame that gave it away.

And when I first got her......

Apart from the additional 'Relentless' graphic font logo on the tail *Yuk* - it has scrubbed up remarkably well.

Are you tempted to buy it back?
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Never seen a bike I've owned and I've had a lot, but when I was preparing my 1980's XJ600 to race in 2012 I thought I'd search ebay for rearsets, it was a long shot as no one ever seemed to fit them, except me it seems in the early 90's. to my surprise a set of Raask rearsets popped up, on closer inspection the were my old ones, I got a phone number and rang the guy, the bike was no more had been left standing then stripped as it was knackered (I sold it with over 70,000 miles about 17 years earlier) He sold me the rearsets nice and cheap, was nice to have them back. I knew they were my old ones as I had broken 1 peg and replaced it with an FZR one , they were still the same.

Nah... no sentimentality with this one. I originally spotted it on the bay for £1200... other than just a quick look at the photos I had no interest in it but a couple weeks later spotted it again but it had been re listed as a non runner for £800 This time i was curious... after staring at what was bad photo's for a while I noticed the 19lt tank plus I fancied the wavy discs (which turned out to be a near new pair of Armstrong discs) so, bought it and robbed the good stuff off it for my bike :P Mechanically a nice bike, 26k on clocks but bodywork wasn't great... both front fairings snapped at the mirrors, tank was a mess and generally dirty and weathered from being left outside.

It's the only storm I have seen with just the top half of the frame polished, that's what instantly caught my eye.. if it turned up with say a black painted frame... I wouldn't of looked twice. Of course once I started looking closer.... recognised the s/s bolts I put here and there, the awful renthal grips which are so thin they may as well not be there.. at least not from a comfort point of view.

Guessing this be the second owner since it left me. The guy who had the bike from me has been on the forums... I know he was selling it a while back so looks like he sold it and now it's off on it's travels again.

The best story I have heard is a forum members on here (sorry can't remember the username) who found his Fathers old bike which was his dream bike to own as a child. Fantastic story. Yes being a child he had to wait until he grew up.
