Send it back along with a repair bill for new battery, loom and any other electrical / electronic components it has fried.

Did the original bike dealer supply it after the first one failed soon after you bought the bike ? http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 73#p338253

Presumably you're still off the road?
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Dunno, I still feel that I messed up.

I replaced the first one myself, didn't involve the seller.

Fitting a finned SH R/R should be simply plug&play - unlike having to fit different connectors with a MOSFET.

Were all the connectors clean and uncorroded?

Connectors clean, I put the earth on top of the reg, not underneath it, reckon that would be a poor enough earth to cause trouble.

The srad regulators output is slightly lower and causes issue with my sat nav, 13.3v under load and 14v on tick over.
