what have you done to your "bike" today
Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
It's more of a disposable built to a cost component and not really the best starting point..
Rear shock, upgrade or rebuild? > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29808
If I was looking to replace/upgrade the rear shock I would go for a Shock Factory M Shock

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Found the "secret" Akro full exhaust carb set up......
Silly me actually though it would just be an easy tweak to go from the stock header with Leo's to the full system but nooooo.....
So a month later and at least I still have the same pilots in there, the power is back
4K in any gear and she tries to run out from under you if you give her the beans.
Time to go mess with the kids on the hill

Loud pipes don't save lives, knowing how to ride your bike will save your life.

This week I bought myself a well used Ohlins shock off our local eBay equivalent. Looking forward to receiving this next week but realistic about whether it will need some rejuvenation.
Today was another great NZ winters day, and after the fog lifted we had dry roads and little or no wind. A perfect opportunity to scrub in my new Metzelers.

I got one off TM as well for next to nothing. It had just had a service, I got the receipt with it. Was a couple of hundred at KSS in New Plymouth.Cadbury64 wrote:This week I bought myself a well used Ohlins shock off our local eBay equivalent. I fitted hot grips and new home made mirrors. Track days soon so will start some mods for that.
I have a swingarm in the mail. just need to find a good local welder.

tidied up my nan's garden, then a spot of weeding. after that I gave the pineapple express an oil and filter change, I also noticed the coolant was a bit low, so I topped that up as well, I've still got a little coolant leak from somewhere....
I also touched in all the stone chips on the oem bellypan whilst it was off. and finally I cable tied my brake lever to the bar, as it'd still a bit spongy....
that's plenty enough tinkering for one day....

Colour Magicked front to back.
Waxed. (Turtle wax Extreme Nano-Tech)
Wheels cleaned and wiped with wax.
Little paintbrush with ACF-50 on the stainless bits.
Polished the heel plates, can-hangers, brake and clutch levers with Autosol.
Back to Black on the indicators, rear mudguard, Fork protectors, screen trim and handlebar switch-gear.
Check tyre pressures, lights, flashy bits and beepy thing.
Stuck me backpack on, grabbed some money, and thrashed the knackers off it to go get it dirty again.
Stopped for a haggis supper n coffee.
Serious sunshine today, with the road pretty warm to the hand. Luvley! Counted heaps of bikes, and about 20 in the town I went to, all parked up with the owners eating chips and making the most of the sun.
Screwed the knackers off it on the road home, and overtook a car at a little over silly speed...which once level with the door, a quick glance realised it was an unmarked CID car from the plod shop that sits 100yds from my house.
Then, with the warm air rising from the fields, I ran into a massive cloud of bugs above the road...with that all familiar really fast "thuka-thuka-pit-pit-pit-clatter-splat" sound rattling of the bike and visor. If I had an open face on, I'd have been still chewing the buggers as I write this.
Got home, looked at the state of the bike with the million flies and thought, I need to clean this again...
Not quite this, but near as dammit!.....
