Nah... I'm the sane one in my family... Round here it usually work this way... My brother thinks up a nutty idea (Turbo'ed busa, V8 powered mini, Rolls Royce Merlin powered speedboat, and so on) And then it's up to me to work out how to do it... Then my dad takes over and fabricates it...

And like things usually do, they seem to sort of spiral out of control along the way... The Merlin got the "high altitude" parts modified with a big ass intake snorkel, to "boost" things... Like it needed it, it aquaplanes at just over half throttle now, and I didn't dare take it above three quarter throttle last test run since I sort of ran out of lake too fast... The V8 became a V12, and the wee turbo for the busa sort of evolved along the way, so now it puts out 700+ bhp to the wheel, with pressure assisted clutch...

For whatever reason, I doubt my dad's "fixing up" of a downed VFR800 will stop there, he's already eye balling a leftover rotary SC, and mumbling things... I have test fitted said SC to my SP2 engine twice, and my bother didn't even bolt the refurbished VW bug engine together before tearing it apart and redoing it this time... Last dyno run before the upgrades it made a tad below 800 to the wheels... And that's in an bug convertible that see's daily use over the summer between embarrassing purpose made dragsters...

See... Told ya... I'm the sane one...

Could this be made to fit?

i saw that on ebay the other day and thought it would look good on a storm, you just need someone to fabricate a rear subframe. i love the seat on the red framed bike, is it an rs125 seat unit, if i ever do a different rear end, it will have to incorperate a good and comfy seat unit, and not a race foam pad.... :eek2

Flatline wrote:I have put a bid on a couple of things like the frame and engine and been thinking about how to use them effectively if I win

As I need another project to run alongside the Ducafe Racer I thought I would build a VTR from scratch

Using Benny's frame as a start, plus the engine if I win it, and other bits as well

Would like trick up the looks a bit, but not the engine as I am happy with a standard engine

USD forks
VFR Single sided
Fireblade or other wheels
Modified subframe
Different rear end
Good paint job

That sort of thing

I reckon Benny would have been happy to see that happen

What do you guys think?
Can i ask, Is this the frame with the V33 VTR reg?
Martins (Benny) wife has found all the paper work for it, The V5 and i think the certificate that links that reg to that frame so V33 VTR can go back on the road.
If you want it just let me know. You can email me. janeyo14@hotmail.co.uk
I hope you can use it. :)

If that was directed at me, sure... But I rarely have blingy things, like single side swing arms lying around... My stuff tends to be more race oriented...

I do have an assortment of other swing arms if you need one though...

So, finally got round to getting the frame blasted, and its now getting powder coated

I have a new set of plastics ready as well

Will be making some decisions about how to go with this now that my own bike has been written off

Will probably stick with normal swing arm on this frame

I have another frame already converted to single sided, so no need to mess about with this one

Though that means I now have a spare sssa

Looking to get my bike back so I can use lots of bits from that
