I've been getting some really load popping and backfires from my 'Storm recently which is really annoying -I had the bike serviced recently but that hasn't really made any differece.
I'm sure this has come up before so....
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
Only kidding (although it does make me smile when mine does it!)
I suspect who ever serviced the bike didnt really have a clue [this is where you say "actually Wayne me ol' cocker - it was me!" and I crawl into a hole!]
Hi!
As for me, i think stormy 1 is right. I've had backfire on my VTR during 1 month when i was slowing down. I solve this problem for to weeks. There was a crack in the connection of the 2 exhausts. A friend of mine do a welding which solve the problem.
the problem can also come from old spark (candle : i don't know the english name for it) or may be from fuel.
Cheers chaps...I'll check out the exhaust & spark plugs..
By the way if it is the fueling -i.e running too rich -is this easily resolved...do I have to do any carb cleaning or rejetting or anything crazy like that?
Sorry for my complete & utter ignorance but I'm a spaz!!
When i was looking for the problem of my VTR i asked the shop what told me :
-it could come from fuel so befor making a carburator synchro (i hope it's the good translation) or a carbu cleaning, try to change your fuel station.
You have to do 2 fill of tank to really change the fuel quality in your engine, after you'll know if it come from fuel. but as for me, there is a low probability.
may be it depends on your exhaust if they are not homologated backfire are almost normal.
