If you don't try you never know if you can do it.

It looks like a fuse goes in there....but there are two wires coming off it and going into loom?
Does that fuse operate something?

Follow the wires and see where they lead to - probably an aftermarket accessory of somekind.Does that fuse operate something?

Optimate charger without a fuse? Given the bike is currently sitting in the dining room again and will be for some time is it best I get the fuse or will it make no difference?

sorry you might be getting confused
this lead goes from your battery to a two pin plug, and then the optimate charger plugs in to that

Yes sorry I am probably confused. I try to stay away from wires!
The wires coming out either side of the fuse holder both seem to just head towards the front of the bike. When I feel more confident I will investigate further.
On another note I confirmed my bike's original colour was Orange!!! YR-179!

It could be anything from a charger, or an eager beaver headlight relay kit, heated grips, voltmeter, 12v accessory socket etc.. etc..
Is there anything non-standard and electrical in the dash area?

Not a thing mate. In fact when I got the bike the only thing that was not standard was the Scottoiler, rear hugger and braided lines.Wicky wrote: Is there anything non-standard and electrical in the dash area?
I'll be taking the subframe off at some point in the near future which will give me more room so I will be able to see better then.
Thanks though
