If you have the time and patience to strip the bike down to the frame, it really isn't that expensive to have it powder coated or painted, Hammerite, well.....I wouldn't, its the kind of thing I would to do a rat bike, and I don't like rat bikes.StormyRob wrote:Ive read that people paint the frame with hammerite smooth. I will likely give that a go...worst case scenario i f**k it up and have to polish it!

I have the time. I just dont have the knowhow. Taking engine away from bike and all that! Naah
I am very much a novice and not willing to go that far yet....
Maybe someday next year. I would much rather the frame swingarm and subframe p coated black.

With strip and rebuild. It's all about time. Methodical labelling and care
Modifying is more difficult but the sane process
Removing the frame on the storm is easier than most

Re: Washing a dirty bike.....dirty.
I do very similar to the video link except i use GT85 or mac fluid for the crud, Muc Off to do the lighter stuff, wash down with a good quality car wash, polish plastics etc with Mr Sheen, metal with Meguires metal polish, then protect virtually everything with a wipe over with GT85, this is my 17 year old FireBlade which I think looks pretty damn good for it's age, so I must be doing something right, if you do a deep clean once a year it really is easy to keep on top of it, I look at it like this, unless you've got loads of money to just throw away which I haven't, then what ever I've manage to buy with my hard earned cash needs to be looked after.

Kev that looks fantastic.
I am of the same mindset. My goal is to make my old cheap £900 firestorm look better. And a deep clean will help.
