Fitting handlebars to my vtr

Post by lgraham »

Hi all,I'm a newbie here, having just got myself a nice VTR.I 'm interested in fitting handlebars ,and saw a post from May 2013 by Seb421,and was wondering if you're out there Seb (or if not anyone else who can tell me ) where do you get the clamps to go on the fork ends to which you clamp the bars? Presumably Renthal bars would be a good choice -plus a brace- although I'm not sure of the size to go for -width,rise,height,sweep-it's a bit confusing, and it's a long way to go to their superstore in Wrexham to try the bars for size.Any advice would be welcome-cheers,Les Graham.

Welcome to the forum Les. My bike had the bars changed when I bought it so I can't really help you. But I'm sure somebody will be along to help you out as they are the most helpful bunch of blokes out there
SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN

if you are fitting renthals to the bike, then you need to make or buy a new top yoke. CNC do a good ready made yoke, but their customer service is reported to be very hit or miss.
you will also need to cut the faring slightly and lengthen the brake hoses and the horn wiring.

have a look here for my conversion

Welcome to the club Les. I have no knowledge of this fitting high bars on a storm malarkey, being youthful and supple enough to handle clip ons. I'll leave it to the elderly and infirm to help you out!

regarding flat bars on a storm............ once you try them out and get used to the new riding position you could well find this is one of the best modifications for a Storm.

I think the more upright stance and extra leverage work well with the big torquey engine and make the Storm an ideal hypermoto type bike. I would say I can go faster on real world A-roads than before the change, and even on track days it works well.......... at real high speeds you just need to bend your elbows more, and fitting a higher screen helps.

oh and wheelies and stoppies are much improved :D ............ but that's my old age showing through [old but immature :D ]
