MV Agusta

Post by Dendrob »

Can anybody shed any light on who might have ridden an MV circa 1974/1975.

Reason is I've dug out an old line drawing I did around then of a rider on what is clearly an mv. The view is from behind and the rider is hanging off a fair bit.

I remember copying the drawing from a much smaller drawing or photo in mcn. I was about 14. Would love to know who the rider was.

Ago left MV for Yam in 74. Might be Read though.

Cheers.

Phil read sprung to mind but the lid is the wrong shade and pattern. Looks more like the lid and riding style of Ron haslam. I've either used artistic licence on the lid or maybe even the bike. I might have substituted an mv for whatever haslam was riding. If he was riding at a level to get into mcn at that kind of period.

Bit of research

Agostini left MV in the 1974 season, so was still riding for them at the start.

He was the first racer to really hang off the seat, sometimes looking like he had fallen

Very stylish

Phil read had different helmet designs through 1974 ( google images of him for 1974)

Thanks guys. The plot thickens. I'm grateful for your input. Sounds like ago favorite with read a maybe. I never realised ago hung off. I was trying to convince a 30 odd year old mate that it isn't such a new thing. I had my drawing in mind.

Yes, I'm looking at the drawing now. But I don't know how to get images onto here. It doesn't seem to cater very well for I pad or kindle fire.

Easiest way to get pictures off an iPad is to download the Tapatalk forum app, search for VTR1000.org and then find your post. You can then easily upload pictures, it will even allow you to change the sizes.

Thanks. I tried setting up a photobucket account and dropping their linky thingy onto here but the link wasn't active. It didn't turn blue. Oo matron. I noticed someone else yesterday evening tried it with tapatalk and the same thing happened. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

If it's already on Photobucket, try copy and pasting this link instead:
