Is it possible to clean grease off brake pad face?

Warmed gently with blow torch, done it on cars and clutches! but personally on a bike bin them!

To be honest, if the rear pads had a little standard grease on them I'd get some clean 200 grit sandpaper and give em a little rough-up and try them out carefully.

I use organic pads on the rear as I'm not looking for a powerful rear brake, hence I'd give it a go...

If you want to risk it try Isopropyl Alcohol and some fine aluminium oxide sand paper. I'd sooner replace them.

It'll burn off really quickly, clean with thinners first, just go careful (which you should be anyway on new pads). I have got various things on pads in the past when cleaning up calipers and pistons and never felt the slightest difference when riding or driving.

Obviously just get a feel for them as soon as you pull away. it will be perfectly obvious if they are not right. They won't work, then stop working, if there's an issue they won't work right from the off.

I understand the comments along the lines of is it worth the risk, but lets have some common sense. they will get hot, the grease will get extremely thin and burn/run off. Don't hit 100mph without using them at all, then do an emergency stop up to a brick wall.

I think it's a question of how much grease and for how long.. If we are just talking of a smear, get some tinners on them and give them a good clean. (Not a soaking)
If it's a lot and has had time to soak in, bin them off.
I had a fork leak and the oil got onto my pads and no cleaning in the world could clean out the contamination (and I've got plenty of access to all kinds of chemicals hazardous to health and grease )
Pads aren't too expensive, give em a clean and if it doesn't feel right after a fews miles get rid

As has been said personally I would try cleaning with solvent first, then sand and clean again and then try them out. At the end of the day its what we would do. The main question is what do YOU feel comfortable doing? If it was on the bike when the greese got on there be sure to clean the disc as well before using original or putting new pads in.

If it was me... clean off with some panel wipe like painters use then a quick once over with a bit of sandpaper.

one of the tricks is to boil the pad in water for some time and grease will just come off, but I didn´t try it ...
