Great. See you in hawes. I will finalise the exact time based on weather nearer the dayGreenEyedGecko wrote:I was looking back at this thread and saw "We will ... pick up all the other misfits as we get to Settle/Hawes..." well - with an invite like that it would be rude not to.![]()
Would it be ok if I tag along for a few hours on the Friday? Maybe join at Hawes?
Chris, you never did the Alston to Brampton road. Not as good as the Hartside but still rather good and, it cuts a fair few miles out if you need to be in a hurry.Miztaziggy wrote:Al,
Just got back in from the Northumberland trip.
Gotta say, the roads were ace. Parts of the route from Barnard Castle up to Alston then on to Penrith are similar to the Scottish roads, maybe Delphine pass lite.
I was thinking it might be a good idea to incorporate some of them on this run for the Friday ride up?
In particular, the road from Barnard Castle, through Middleton in Teesdale, to Alston was really good.
It continues and gets even better turning left and on toward Penrith. Goes past Hartside Cafe right on the top of the hills which is a good place to stop for a coffee.
This route here is 100 miles from Settle to Penrith. Ideal for 1 tank full?
