Yes it does when it has always seemed to me that Honda's have the worst compared to there competitors.
Then buy the competitor!! :?
When I have bought Kawasaki's and Yamaha and especially Yamaha I have always had problems with them, Yamaha used to be the brand I always bought, but fell out of love with them.

Honda work for me in every department but fueling, and my point is why.

Probably beacuse on a sports bike mpg is a low priority for owners - however with Honda's NC700X (64 mpg) commuter/utility bike shows what can be done

or Suzuki's TU250X (80 mpg) / Honda CMX250C Rebel (84mpg) / Honda Grom 125 (100+mpg)

or ultimately Zero S ZF9.8 (0mpg)

Don't know why the vtr gets a bad rep for fuel efficiency. I did't notice any difference going to a bandit 600 and my RSV is definitely worse on fuel.

Maybe if it was a full sports bike or had a bigger tank it wouldn't get mentioned?

Its not the bike that gets a bad rep its the size of the fuel tank that does.

I believe this is right, from my experience

Honda VTR Firestorm : 16 ltr 75 miles av to Refueling best I have had 105 miles
Honda X11 : 22 ltr 120 miles av to refueling Best I have had 150 Miles
Honda CBR929 : 18 Ltr 110 miles av to refueling Not tested
HD Sportster : 12.5 Ltr 110 Miles av to refueling Best I have had 120 miles

Might be a good idea to see what other people get on different brands, it could just well be my paranoia.

Sounds like you've got a bad one. Mine was always in the region of 90 -110.
Best ever was cruising on the motorway and managed 128 without running out...but I wouldn't want to try and do it again :eek2

Best way to improve mpg is move to somewhere less urban with less stop start traffic lights etc. and more rural or at least with dual carriageway.

Yamaha RI tank size 17L
Honda Fireblade tank size 18L
Suzuki GSXR1000 tank size 18L
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R tanksize 17L

Honda engines are the worst for sure, the one in my lawn mower has swilled gallons of unleaded but hasn't even made it out of the garden yet......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I have owned fuel injected bikes and carb bikes, but its always been Honda's that have left me unimpressed, regardless of whether its a tank to small or the bike just drinks.
Out of interest if Honda's have always left you unimpressed which bike(s) have left you impressed with fuel consumption :?:

Chris.
all my Harleys haven't been bad, most of the Yamaha's I have owned haven't been bad, and comparing bikes with my mate, his Z1000 which he ragged the crap out of had much better fuel economy than my Hornet 900.

To be honest most of the none Honda's I have owned have been better to a lot better than the Honda's I have owned, the two best Honda bikes I have owned which weren't bad for fuel consumption was the 600 Hornet ( small tank ) and the CBR600.

The worst bike I have ever come across which had god awful fuel drinking was my mates Aprillia Touno.
Interesting.I suppose as the saying goes "you can't have it all". I didn't know Aprilia Tuono's were thirsty,

Chris.

But it was you that started the thread!
The rest of us just stick fuel in, use it up, stick fuel in, use it up, repeat until dead.

I know I started the thread, if you not worried and stick fuel in and not worried that's works for you then fine.
