Does the VTR use much Oil?

Post by JohnnyB »

I recently got my Storm with 22k on the clock.

It doesn't appear to be using oil but I've only had it a week and not much more than 500 miles covered (which were all very enjoyable :D).

What's the norm?

Cheers

Apart from services I did not put any oil in my old storm and I did over 10000 miles on it before it was totaled

Mine uses quite a bit of oil

Mind you, its not a problem coz I reckon as I'm putting in 500ml every 1000 miles I've no need for regular oil changes

Mine seems to go through stages. Won't use any for ages & then she's empty within a coupla hundred k. It's like it forgets to use any & then realises & makes up for it. Doesn't seem to be relative to any particular riding style either. I've just got into the habit of checking fairly often.

The only time oil goes into mine is at an oil change :D

I only ever lost about an eggcup full between services.
Normally towards the last few hundred before it got changed. I just put it down to the oil getting old and thin

Mine tends to use about 100 ml or so every 5000 kms (don't know what that is in miles) but I have been told it is fine and this is normal in hard running motors. I use mine at a track from time to time and mine has been jetted and filtered etc....
