photoshop fairing crop

Post by robertisinoz »

Hi all
when I got my VTR a few months ago it was got for track days and to tinker with but still keeping it road legal.
one of my plans was to trim the fairing down somewhat to show off the engine the problem with that is the side rads.
my plan is to move them under the seat or one at the front and one under the seat.
so to start I thought i would try and see what it would look like with photoshop.
So i spent the evening pulling things off and taking photos then spent some time at the computer fiddling with them.
any comments would be interesting.
This is it just about standard. minnie indicators and chopped under tail.
Image
this next photo is rads moved out of sight the oiler cooler moved down and twice as tall like a Suzuki SV1000 or DL1000 and a trimmed fairing.
Image
This third photo is bottom cowling thing removed and the fairing trimmed down even more.
The indicators have gone but might get some mirrors with indicators built in
Image
the last photo is if I have to put in a small rad at the front and one under the seat
Image
well what do you think.
cheers

Interesting how the front rad improves the looks in the forth pic. I have always like the front end on Motostorms bike. Rather than remove the rear part of the fairing he's removed the front and then fitted a diffrent headlight and surround

I'm not sure how efficient a rad mounted at the rear under the seat would be plus you loose what little storage area there is.

If you want to show off the engine more then get polishing

Hi Rob, this p/s'd photo reminds me of the Suzuki SV1000 fairing, I think it looks quite good. Repositioning the rad across the frame makes all the difference with the shorter fairing,

Chris.

i love ya comp skills, i can do a spreadsheet  .

personally for me a SSSA is the ultimate on any bike, i still think the 916 is amazing and the new Diaval looks superb.

If i could have ridden my Storm without the vibes i would have had a SSSA next for sure. ( with white wheels)

i like the cut down faring too.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Hi not to sure what you meant. Did you mean something like this. You would have to have another way of securing the lower part as the bit that bolts to the frame is now gone.
I like it. I have also trimed down the screen as it has a double bubble screen just now and may go back to a standard size black screen and removed the bolt holes on the frame.

also the cct are on my list to do I want to mod the originals so will have to pull it to bits for a few days and I'm off to the track next week so its have to wait a couple of weeks. as for a sssa and heavy tail mods that sounds expensive so is on the back burner for now. once I'm happy with the front i may tinker with the exhaust.
