If you look at the link above there are orient express tensioners on page 1 and APE ones on page 3 I think.
The OE ones seem to be a little prettier than the APE ones, but they function the same.
I have APE ones and have run them for a couple of years for about 8000 miles and the only problem I have had is a little oil drip from the rear one as I have nicked the o ring, next time I check them I'll swap them front to back.

Strange...what they are playing at?
About a year or more ago I saw myself on Storm of one guy... CCTs just like the one on picture in catalogue, and it did not say APE on it. They looked a bit like Kawasaki CCTs (which gave me inspiration to try to look at other than Honda CCTs).
I will try to find that guy again (he's in Germany, expat like me) and ask him where the hell did he get them. In fact I only found them at BigCC because I was looking for exact type.
I'll be in US next week - I'll call that NY number of OE and ask...

Bluesman did you get to ring OE? If so what was there reply?I'll be in US next week - I'll call that NY number of OE and ask...
I have orderd the OE ones from Bigcc but they are messing me about with delivery, They said they wouold be with in about a weeks time but that was ages ago and now they say they are going to be another week and a half i was thinking of getting them direct and getting them sent to a colleague in Illinois. I have been in denver all this week and had I know Bigcc where going to be so slow i would have ordered them and had them sent to my hotel.

Well, I did call phone number on OE website and somebody on their side told me that OEs are not the same with APE but man been a bit vague with words.
I asked him straight question: "Are OE CCTs just re-branded APEs?" and got answer "No".
Now I am totally confused.
Sent them email but have not got answer yet.
Oops, forgot to mention. The guy said that the OE CTTs are actually available for Busa, some Gixxers and Kawis, and not for Storm.
Now I am really curious to find that guy that did show me OE CCTs on his Storm about year or so ago, because now I can see how he did put them on. I did just same when I have installed Kawasaki ZZR1100 CCTs on my Storm.
If OE does not make CCTs specially for Storm it probably makes more sense to adapt original automatic ZZR CCTs as I did rather than install OEs...except original Kawi CCTs more expensive.

If you want some good results reel cheep and easy I reckon changing the sprockets is a much better option. The clocks might be off but it feels like 15 HP across the range![]()

If you have a bit of mechanical ability its OK takes a bit of time though as when i did it I also checked the shims etc as I had the head covers off etc. lining up all the timing marks properly is a must, all the info is in the haynes manual from what I remember. I think there is a method on this site to change tensioners somewhere I think Del wrote it but I may be wrong.dookie wrote:How much trouble are the manual ccts to fit Max and how often do you have to adjust them?
And jesus m8 did you have to list them web sites , i can here my credit card calling me from my wallet (get me out get me out)
Has anyone tried the ignition advancer?
