Hi All
Looking at getting a new V-twin and cannot decide on my second Storm (newer model) or the Aprilia Falco.
As I see it - The Aprilia, has better brakes, and front end with similar power output, is an aquired taste and compared to a Honda maybe a little agricultural, but I have always loved the sound the Mille motor makes.
The Firestorm, needs a good Rogering to sort out the front at least, it's a Honda, so probably easier to live with, probably a little dated now, but still a good real world bike.
On paper the Aprilia looks the better bike - but!
Opinions please.

i look at it this way
if the Storm gives you that constant grin behind the visor then why change it??
I know when offered a swap with a R6 by a guy at work, that i love the storm too much to chance not having a bike that makes me grin so much

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I wanted to buy Falco for some time before Storm, just because can get Falco really cheap, just same price as I got Storm for.
When ridden both - went for Storm for simple reason. Engine character. Falco twin and Storm twin are two very different animals. Falco does better in higher RPM but feels like there is considerably less torque low to midgrange. Don't know why, but this was my impression. Plus I did not like riding position (but I am short guy).
I am sure Falco's suspension can be dialed in to be better than Storm, but Falco still feelt heavier than Storm I tried (and went for) and reaction to trottle in "transitions" was jerky. Again, this is subjective, and reliability is one of key factors for me too as I love well-over-2000 miles rideouts.

I've always had Honda, I service and fix a lot of other bikes also and the rumour about quality of Honda is true. It is realy leap years ahead of other bikes. Aprilia doesn't have the built quality and NOOOO after sales service. One of my friends has the 2004 Mille and for a year he had no rear brake because of parts they couldn't get. Then after a service they didn't put the oil plug washer back. Oil all over the garage floor. The bike is in now because the speedo stopped working. Maybe a fantastic engin, but you want something that will last also.

Try the Aprilla Tueno(or how ever it's spelledmickt1964 wrote:Well you live and learn, yes selling my first Storm was a mistake, which I was looking at getting another, but wanted opinions on the Aprilia, to see which was the better bike.
Other Storm owners may have owned this bike or have mates who have etc, which was the reason for the question.

I was out riding with one the other week end and was really impressed with both it's handling and it's power.
Of course Firestorm is the proper answer but it's always nice to play with a few options
