New bike... red/yellow which is faster?
New bike... red/yellow which is faster?
Looking for a firestorm
Trolling eBay and the usual places for one at the moment. Prices vary sooooo much. Will be looking for a tidy bike with a system hopefully but pretty much standard...
What do I need to watch out for and which colours fastest ,)

Things to look for
Bottom shock pivot is freely moving and not rushed (especially the engine mounted section)
Manual cct's (if not can always fit)
Start up from cold (if it's already warm walk away, probably trying to hide some issue when cold)
Front header and rear joins for rust.
Lift rubber boot on starter and inspect nut, especially rusted and it will need a good clean or replacing.
Check fairing brackets for bent or twisted sections.
Check inside panels if you can for drop damage.
Try to have a look at the RR to see if it's been replaced with a finned version.
Bounce forks and rear shock for signs of leakage.

I saw that 1600. I'd get told off if I got another. Picked another up yesterday, that makes 6 bikes now

As for the colour choice, ive never had a yellow bike before but having done a few hundred miles on my yellow storm in the last few weeks, I do find that car drivers do spot me much earlier & easier, anyone else find that?

I think it's a case of "ugh look at that horrible yellow bike" "steer clear as I don't want any of that colour on my nice orange car"podman wrote:Very true...fabiostar wrote:i always check the owner as much as the bike. if he sounds a numpty his bike will be much the same..

I used to have a.blue R1 and I found that to be slower than the lava red R1 I had before that. Maybe it's just yammy blue that's slow but who am I to judge lolgeoff996 wrote:Blues the faster colour best handling and have the best rider hahahaha
