damadge assessment

Post by Zer0Zer0 »

thumper came by this Am ..and took the plastics off the bike so i could get a better look at the mangled bits..
the front end took the brunt of the impact. the forks are bent right back and twisted round in the yokes..no leaks though...
the wheel is buckled ..possibly damadged discs and calipers.. again no splits or leaks...
the headstock and frame look fine. ..
twisted rear subframe..swingarm is unmarked.. left hand side end can.and link pipe buckled.. gearchange lever snapped.. footrest gone...rear end plastics repairable...no damadge to main fairing..mirrors intact..front mudguard smashed..engine casings unmarked no leaks..clutch lever bent..
possibly the clipon as well..ill post some piccies when it stops raining....
not as bad as i first thought..already thinking about the blade or upside down conv.....

Marty if you are fully comp and planning on claiming I would think they would write it off.

Mine had damage to all the front plastics forks, both rads split, left engine casing and exhaust. The recovery company lead the assessor to believe the frame was twisted (I am sure it was NOT) It was written off with out argument

The going rate for buying back a bike is about 60% of the market/pay out value.

I was paid out £3400 the buy back was £2040. At that price it's not worth buying back!

That amazed me also that the fairing didn't get marked :!:
Well done Thumper for removing the bodywork :!:

I suppose Marty it all depends on the insurance company and what cover you had :!: I sincerely hope you have fully comp :!:

I'm really sorry too hear that Marty :!: That's strange that as in the back of my mind I had a very, very slight feeling that somewhere on here you mentioned that, but I was hoping I was wrong :!:

Right looking on the bright side you know exactly where you stand now, you are still here which is the main thing and the bike will get sorted. You have to look at it like this, even if you had the bike repaired tomorrow you couldn't ride it :!: so while it will take time to get the bike sorted it will also give you yourself time to get better  Also the weather is crap :!:
